SURGETRAB Transmitter Protection

SURGETRAB is surge protection device that are especially intended for installation on measuring heads / TRANSMITTER to protect against current loops or similar standard signals. Two, three and four-conductor transmitter can be protected. The Surge Trab has high surge discharge capacity (20kA) and a low clamping voltage but is virtually transparent to the Fieldbus signal. In fact the Surge Trab introduces a capacitance of only 20pF which is roughly equivalent to 20cm of field bus wiring. The arrester takes the protective circuit directly to the measuring sensor without any extra accessories.

SURGETRAB’s design and structural housing makes it handy for installation physically near to the sensors. The device confirms to the IP 67 protection grade and are also approved for Ex (d) rating. They are fixed to the sensor housing by means of an M20x1.5 external thread. These arresters are rugged reliable and proven in the field. Different versions with the most common thread sizes are available.

The other end of the pipe profile is fitted with a cable screw connection for field side signal line. The arresters are available for series as well as parallel applications. Special solutions to protect measuring heads in potentially explosive areas with protection types EX(I) or EX(d) are also available.
